Ownership profile
Who owns Gold's Gym?
Gold's Gym is wholly owned by RSG Group, a privately held, family-owned German fitness company — not backed by private equity. RSG Group purchased Gold's Gym out of bankruptcy for $100 million in 2020, and ownership of RSG Group itself has remained within the Schaller family since its founder's death in 2022.

- RSG Group LLC is a private German company with no public filings obligation; no SEC or state registry records were found for the ultimate parent entity confirming exact ownership percentages.
- Family ownership is asserted by RSG Group's own press releases and corroborated by trade press reporting Gerd Schaller as inheritor — this is self-reported but consistent across multiple independent sources.
- TRT Holdings (prior owner 2004–2020) was described as a 'private investment company'; it was not identified in sources as a PE fund, but this was not independently verified.
- The franchise flag applies to the brand level: the majority of Gold's Gym locations (~520 internationally, ~513 US) are franchisee-operated; RSG Group directly owns approximately 60–68 company-owned clubs.
- No PE involvement in RSG Group itself was found in any source searched as of July 2026.
